Main Characters
Jo March
A passionate young woman. This is her story and her journey. Professor Bhaer
A German professor in his mid to late 30’s, who falls in love with Jo. "The Weekly Volcano Press,” “How I Am," “Small Umbrella in the Rain.”
Amy March
The young and rather whiney individual, she has a rather pompous manner, and by that, she rides into society. She marries Laurie. "Our Finest Dreams." "Five Forever," "The Most Amazing Thing."
Meg March
The oldest sister. Yearns for a great life. She marries John Brooke, and has twins during the course of the musical. "Our Finest Dreams," "Delighted," "Five Forever," "More Than I Am," "Off to Massachusetts-Reprise."
Beth March
The second youngest sister. Dies of scarlet fever. She is a peace-maker, and always sees the good in everyone. "Our Finest Dreams," "Delighted," "Off to Massachusetts," "Five Forever,” "Off to Massachusetts-Reprise,” “Some Things Are Meant To Be."
Marmee March
The strong mother. She is the backbone of the family. Her songs show how truly trying this is, however. "Here Alone," "Delighted," "Off to Massachusetts-Reprise,” “Days of Plenty.”
Mr. Laurence
A very stern man in his late 60’s or possibly 70’s, solidly built and set in his ways, but has a soft spot in his heart for young people. "Off to Massachusetts," "Off to Massachusetts-Reprise.”
Laurie Laurence
A young and often hopeless boy-next-door. He loves Jo dearly during Act One, but is quickly rejected when he proposes. He later travels to Europe, meets Amy there, and falls in love with her. Aunt March
A formidable, over-bearing matron, a lioness with a deep, throaty voice. She also is the March family’s benefactor, despite her somewhat gruff countenance. “Could You.”
Mr. John Brooke
Laurie’s tutor, a rather stiff man, but capable of showing emotion. Marries Meg. "More Than I Am." "Off to Massachusetts Reprise."
